Tips for using Citizen Shipper

Citizen Shipper is one way to get your transportation job in front of a lot of potential drivers. From our experience using the site on the provider side, we have some tips for getting the most out of it for a customer:

  1. Provide as much information about your job as you can in the space provided. Let potential bidders know if your dates are flexible, if your pet has any special needs, or if there is something that is really important to your decision making process.

  2. Once you post your job, expect a flurry of bids and messages - don't be overwhelmed or intimidated.

  3. Don't ignore the messages you get. In my opinion, serious contenders are likely to have questions about your job that they want to clarify before bidding. You don't have to respond to every message, but messages are a great way to learn if the driver is going to be a good fit for you.

  4. On a related note, price is important, but other factors are likely even more important - the safety and comfort of your pet, your comfort with the driver's abilities and personality, and the details around your pick-up and delivery schedule are as important as getting the best price.

  5. Because of these other important factors, don't accept a bid before communicating with your potential drivers.

  6. Citizen Shipper charges customers a booking fee when they accept a bid, based on the length of the trip. That fee can sometimes come as a surprise to customers and goes directly to Citizen Shipper, the drivers have no ability to waive it and do not benefit from it. The pet booking fees are listed here: https://help.citizenshipper.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412845946381-Pet-Shipping-Booking-Fees
